eSIM data plans for nomads

Stay online the day you land. The main travel-eSIM providers compared on coverage, plan type and entry price — every figure from the provider’s own page.

An eSIM gets you online the moment you land — no hunting for a SIM kiosk, no swapping a physical card. You install a data plan before you fly and switch it on at the gate, keeping your home number active for calls and two-factor codes on a second line.

Below are the main travel-eSIM providers compared on coverage, plan type and entry price, restated from each provider’s own page. Prices are entry points only and vary by destination and length — for stays beyond a few weeks, compare an eSIM against a local SIM once you are settled, which is usually cheaper per gigabyte.

Frequently asked questions

What is an eSIM and does my phone support it?

An eSIM is a digital SIM you activate by QR code — no physical card. Most phones from around 2019 onward support it; check your settings for “Add eSIM” or “Add cellular plan”.

Is an eSIM cheaper than roaming?

Almost always, for data. Travel eSIMs sell local data at a fraction of typical roaming rates. For a long stay, a local SIM bought on arrival is usually cheaper still.

Can I keep my home number?

Yes — that is the main appeal. Your physical SIM or primary eSIM keeps your number for calls and texts while the travel eSIM carries data, which is handy for two-factor codes.

Which eSIM provider is best?

It depends on where you are going and how much data you need — coverage and per-gigabyte price vary by region. The table compares entry price and plan type; check the live plan for your destination on the provider’s site.
