Insurance requirement, verbatim intent: Health insurance is not listed among the documents the goTürkiye certificate platform checks. However, the short-term residence permit (the in-country long-stay route for digital nomads) requires valid health insurance with Turkish territorial validity covering the full requested permit period — either an international policy valid in Türkiye or a Turkish private health insurance policy issued by a Türkiye-recognised insurer meeting the regulatory minimum. No official minimum coverage amount in EUR is published; coverage must be adequate for the Turkish healthcare market. (Corroborated by law-firm guidance, not by a single official gazette figure.)

Tax notes: No special tax regime for digital nomads. Under the Turkish Income Tax Law (GVK Art. 4), an individual present in Türkiye for more than six months (183 days or more) in a calendar year, or domiciled there, becomes a full taxpayer taxed on worldwide income; certain categories (e.g. those present for a defined assignment, scientists, journalists) can be excepted. Holding a residence permit can support domicile/centre-of-living findings. Below the threshold, only Turkish-source income is taxed; double-tax treaties may provide tie-breaker relief. Resident income-tax rates run roughly 15%-40%. Tax rules are not part of the visa programme itself.

Insurance requirement

Insurance that meets the Turkey DNV requirements

Required in practice, for: full visa period. These plans match the published requirement:

Cigna Healthcare (Cigna Global Insurance Company Limited) · International health insurance

Cigna Global is a worldwide full international medical plan ($1M Silver to unlimited Platinum) with Türkiye in its global area of coverage and continuous cover for the full permit period, satisfying Turkey's requirement for insurance with Turkish territorial validity for the entire short-term residence permit.

  • Three core tiers with annual maximums of $1M/€800k (Silver), $2M/€1.6M (Gold) and paid-in-full with no overall cap (Platinum)
  • No upper enrollment age (18+); insurer states it does not terminate policies based on age
  • Modular design: outpatient, evacuation & crisis assistance, health & wellbeing, vision & dental can be added; deductibles ($0-$10,000) and cost shares (0-30%) reduce the premium

  • Home-country visits insured: 30 (Basic) / 45 (Comfort) / 90 (Premium) days per insurance year
